Last week we welcomed a group of Italian teenagers from Tuscany at our Spanish school in Granada. Here the 6 students had the opportunity to improve their Spanish and get to know our beautiful city and the surroundings.

We’ve just spent a great week with our group of Italian students here at IMSOL. In the mornings the teenagers, aged between 14 and 15 years, had 4 Spanish lessons per day during which they worked on all their linguistic skills, such as listening, oral expression and interaction, reading comprehension and written expression and interaction. In the afternoons we organized an activities program together with their Italian teacher who accompanied them.

On Monday we had a little walk through the city center and the quarter of Realejo, where our school is situated, to show our students the most important places of these areas such as the Cathedral, Plaza de la Trinidad, Puerta Real or Campo del Príncipe.

The next day we had a guided tour through Cuarto Real de Santo Domingo, an ancient Arabic palace where the Moorish Kings used to spend the days of Ramadan.

During our visit of the Albaicín and Sacromonte on Wednesday, our students had the possibility to get to know the special charm of Granada whilst walking through the little alleyways between the white houses of the Arabic neighbourhood and enjoying the spectacular views one has on the city and the Alhambra in various places of that area or climbing the little mountain which is famous for its cave-houses of the Gipsies.

The week we continued following the traces of Arabic past which transform our city in such an unusual place. So on Thursday, we visited the famous Alhambra, an UNESCO World Heritage. This Spanish fortress, which sits above the city on its hill, with its decorated palaces, gorgeous gardens and a fantastic view is certainly a place full of history, and we can’t deny it, also of a unique magic.

On Friday our Italian students had a free afternoon and could roam and discover the streets of Granada on their own.

For their last day in Granada, we had something special on the program: an excursion to the Alpujarras. We had a great time visiting several mountain villages, with a wine- and typical sausages tasting, a visit of the museum in Pampaneira and a visit of a typical ham dryer in Trevélez included. What a great day full of Spanish culture and a perfect way to complete their stay in Spain.

We had a great time with our Italian students and we hope that they return soon to IMSOL!
