Joan Manuel Serrat is a Spanish singer-songwriter, composer and performer, poet and musician, one of the most important
figure of the modern music, both in Spanish and Catalan language.
His work is influenced by other poets, such as Antonio Machado, Miguel Hernández, Rafael Alberti or León Felipe among others; just like by different genres, such as the Catalan folklore, folk song, tango, bolero and traditional Latin American songbook.
Moreover, he has made other versions of the music of Violeta Parra or Víctor Jara.
He is one of the pioneer of what is called the “Nova Cançó catalana”.
