The week of science Granada 2015

Like every year in November, it is high time to celebrate “the week of Science”, that is nothing less than one of the biggest scientific event in Europe.
Said so, during the 2nd and the 3rd week of November the scientific organizations will arrange for you a wide range of funny and interesting activities, suitable for every age and taste!

This unique event is organized all around Andalusia, but now let’s see what’s up precisely in Granada:

 

LA FISICA, ¡QUE MARAVILLA!

Would you like to take a trip in the space? And what about do it without moving from where you are? Well, now you can do it, thanks to the subatomic particles and the celestial bodies. And if this is not enough, you can also enjoy the sunspots with special tools used by real scientists and make your own sun-watch!

Where: Facultad de Ciencias, Calle Doctor Severo Ochoa S/N, Granada

CRISTALOGRAFÌA. ¿POR QUÉ? ¿PARA QUÉ? ¿CÓMO?

Crystallography is one of the most spectacular and at the same time less known scientific subjects, despite the strategic importance it has. Don’t you think is it time to get familiar with it?
In the prestigious Science Department of Granada you can attend interactive shows in order to learn how crystals are made and how they work; later, you have as well the opportunity to visit the Crystallography Laboratory, where you will learn how they get formed and go through the most emblematic scientific tools.

LOS SEDIMENTOS DEL FONDO DEL MAR

Let’s go to explore the oceanic abysses and underwater perforations with special ships, and to enjoy the marine probes’ remains, in order to comprehend the climatic changes occurred on our Planet over the centuries. Do not miss it!

LOS MINERALES Y LOS SENTIDOS: FORMA, DUREZA, COLOR, BRILLO, DENSIDAD

Minerals are basic for human beings; indeed, they form our substratum, allow the development of agriculture and they are also our nutrition source, and much more.
Giving that, during this activity you will have the opportunity to admire them and study their physical property, in order to be able to identify and categorize them.

LAS CUEVAS: VENTANAS ABIERTAS AL CLIMA DEL PASADO

Would you like to know how the weather changed over the years? Then take advantage of this activity! You will learn the climatic changes through the study of stalactites and stalagmites!

ANTÁRTIDA: LOS FONDOS OCEÁNICOS QUE LA RODEAN

During this activity you will discover the oceanic subsoil that surrounds the Antarctic, to comprehend the climatic and environmental conditions during its formation, obviously, without forgetting the amusement! In fact, you will use a tool in order to simulate an oceanic perforation, for a deeper and more consistent observation.

JORNADAS DE PUERTAS ABIERTAS DEL NODO COORDINADOR DEL BIOBANCO DEL SISTEMA SANITARIO PÚBLICO DE ANDALUCÍA (BBSSPA)

Do you know what is the BBSSPA? If not, don’t worry. Biobanco of Andalusia Public System organizes a meeting in which you will learn everything about the Biobanco of Andalusia, how it works in the web and its importance in the current scientific survey.
Thereafter, there will be a guided tour through the labs, to give to everyone the opportunity to see how scientists work in the BBSSPA.

VISITAS GUIADAS AL AULA MUSEO DE PALEONTOLOGÌA Y A LA EXPOSICIÓN DE ROCAS SEDIMENTARIAS

Keen on fossils? At the Stratigraphy and Paleontology Department will be arranged guided tours by teachers who will show the fossils collection and the Sedimentary Rocks Exposition.
