Little by little you stroll through the city center, obvious that the number of young foreigners who roam Gran Vía, Plaza Nueva or Reyes Católicos represents a very high percentage of all tourists – 2,500,000 last year – visiting Granada. And they are here mainly for one reason: to learn Spanish. The result of this reality is the First International Festival of Language, Culture and Leisure, lovingly presented with the name of ‘Flecos.
The next 3, 4 and 5 October will be held in Granada a pioneering national initiative that aims to bring together teachers, students and institutions with Castilian as the common axis.
Germany will be the guest on the first edition of Flecos . The harmony between the Chamber of Commerce of Freiburg (Freiburg IHK) and the Granada one (do not forget that both the German and the Andalusian city are twinned) were determining factors when choosing the Teutonic country as the guest of exception next October.
The director of the Palacio de Congresos, Raúl Lozano, stressed during his presentation that the festival brings together the collaboration of scientific, academic, cultural and business sectors, with the support of institutions.
The organization aims to overcome in its first edition the 300 attendees with a program aimed at experts in teaching Spanish as a foreign language, future professionals and students of foreign Castilian.
Promoter of the festival is the Instituto Mediterráneo Sol, which is also on the organizing and scientific committee, in the person of its director Javier Torres.
