This coming Friday, September 5, 2025<\/strong>, Granada will experience an unforgettable cultural event: the launch of the First Granada Flamenco Biennial<\/strong>, a festival born with the ambition of becoming an international benchmark for flamenco art.<\/p>\n

The opening event will be a free grand concert at the Plaza de Toros<\/strong>, performed by the City of Granada Orchestra (OCG)<\/strong> under the baton of Lucas Mac\u00edas<\/strong>, featuring a program that blends the finest of the Spanish symphonic tradition with the raw power of flamenco. A unique stage to unite memory, innovation, and discovery around the city\u2019s most universal art form.<\/p>\n

A program between the classical and the flamenco<\/h3>\n

The evening will feature emblematic works from the Spanish repertoire, from Bizet\u2019s Carmen Suite<\/strong>, to the preludes of La Revoltosa<\/em> (Chap\u00ed) and La verbena de la Paloma<\/em> (Bret\u00f3n). The fandango from Do\u00f1a Francisquita<\/em> (Vives) and the interlude from La leyenda del beso<\/em> (Vert\/Soutullo) will also be performed.<\/p>\n

The highlight of the night will be the performance of \u201cAlegro-Sole\u00e1\u201d<\/strong>, a piece by Antonio Robledo and Enrique Morente<\/strong>, paying tribute to the great Granada-born flamenco master. The piece will feature the powerful voice of Antonio \u201cEl Turry\u201d<\/strong>, accompanied by Juan Carlos Garvayo<\/strong> on piano, Carlos Merino<\/strong> on flamenco percussion, and handclapping by Jos\u00e9 \u201cEl Indio\u201d<\/strong> and Benjam\u00edn Santiago \u201cEl Moreno\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The concert will close with Suite No. 1 of El sombrero de tres picos<\/em> by Manuel de Falla<\/strong>, rounding out a program that builds bridges between the popular and the symphonic, between the classical and the flamenco.<\/p>\n
