A magical experience
Summer in Granada wouldn’t be complete without cinema and memory coming together under the stars. In the heart of the Federico García Lorca Park, the Huerta de San Vicente—once the summer home of Lorca’s family—turns into a magical setting where stories are projected not just onto a screen, but into the imagination of those who gather to watch.
This year, the Open-Air Summer Cinema returned with eight free screenings, every Wednesday at 10:00 p.m., with admission open until the 200 available seats are filled. It has become one of Granada’s most beloved traditions—what the City Council describes as “more than just a film series: a shared celebration of art, a way of turning summer nights into collective experiences full of emotion, reflection, and beauty.”
Two last chances: August 27 and September 3
Although the cycle began in July with titles as diverse as Loving Vincent, Notorious, and Amadeus, two very special nights still remain to close out the season:
- Wednesday, August 27 → Blade Runner. Final Cut (2006), by Ridley Scott. A futuristic classic that explores identity, memory, and the human condition—made all the more powerful when experienced under the Granada night sky.
- Wednesday, September 3 → Generación Lagartija (2024), directed by Granada-born César Martínez Herrada. This documentary intertwines the story of the band Lagartija Nick with key figures of Andalusian culture such as Federico García Lorca, Val del Omar, and Luis Buñuel. A poetic and musical finale to the summer’s program.

A space like no other
The Huerta de San Vicente is not just a garden—it is a cultural landmark. Here, Lorca penned some of his most iconic works, and today it remains a place where generations gather to celebrate art and memory. As city spokesperson Jorge Saavedra noted, “there is no better place to dream collectively than the Huerta de San Vicente.”
Surrounded by trees, the late-summer breeze, and the gentle hum of the city blending with film dialogue, each screening becomes an experience that feels both intimate and universal.
Saying goodbye to summer with cinema
The Open-Air Cinema at Huerta de San Vicente is free, accessible, and open to all audiences. With only two nights left, it’s the perfect chance to share in the magic of outdoor cinema before summer fades away.
