European Researchers’ Night 2025 in Granada: Science, Fun, and Over 200 Activities

noche de los investigadores

This Friday, September 26, 2025, Granada will transform into a large open-air laboratory with the celebration of European Researchers’ Night, an international event held simultaneously in over 400 European cities, reaching its most ambitious edition in the city this year.

With 31 science stands, the participation of more than 30 institutions, and over 200 free activities, Granada will host a unique day where science and citizens come together.

What is European Researchers’ Night?

European Researchers’ Night is an annual science outreach event promoted by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe program. Its goal is to bring research closer to society, showcase its impact on daily life, and inspire scientific vocations among young people.

Under the motto “Open Researchers 2024-25”, this year’s edition in Granada combines onsite and online activities, including talks, workshops, shows, micro-meetings, and scientific routes. It also aligns with the major EU missions: fighting cancer, adapting to climate change, protecting oceans and soils, and building sustainable cities.

Where It Takes Place in Granada

The city will host the program across four main locations:

  • Paseo del Salón: the epicenter, with over 240 activities in astronomy, heritage, biodiversity, engineering, gastronomy, and art.
  • Faculty of Sciences, UGR: guided tours of scientific collections, physics experiments, and educational workshops for schools.
  • Scientific Routes: city tours to discover fossils, languages, monuments, and historical stories with a scientific approach.
  • Biobank Coordinating Node: activities about managing and donating biological samples for biomedical research.

Highlights and New Features in 2025

This year, Granada sets new records with the addition of institutions like Fundación Medina and two CSIC centers: the Andalusian Institute of Earth Sciences (IACT) and the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME-CSIC).

The Mixed University Institute of Sport and Health (iMUDS) will also participate, focusing on health, physical activity, and citizen engagement.

One of the highlights is the KID CORNER, a special area with six stands dedicated to children, where they can experiment, play, and discover science in a fun and interactive way.

An Event for the Whole Family

The European Researchers’ Night 2025 in Granada is not just a scientific encounter but also an opportunity to enjoy with the family, meet researchers firsthand, and participate in unique experiences that combine knowledge, fun, and culture.

With over a decade of history in the city, the event has become a must-attend on Granada’s cultural and scientific calendar.
