Granada at Christmas is filled with light and joy … the city is transformed. For the spanish people, the Christmas holidays represent exceptional dates to take advantage of the time to stay with his family and to enjoy the activities that are organized in every corner of the city.
The Christmas wraps Granada of great joy and hope, and like every year, the traditional Christmas lights accent marks not only the beginning of the holidays that will flood the streets of Granada, but also the beginning of winter that arrives with precision on the 21st December.
In addition, many activities will start for the little ones and for the older ones; in fact, the city of Granada will light up and Christmas lights today December 5 at 19.20 with more than 2 million LED lights.
Soon after, a large snow slope will be open to the public at the Paseo del Salón and a huge snowball will be installed.
In Piazza del Humilladero, at 8:30 pm, the reception of a large 18-meter tall Christmas tree kindly offered by Cerveza Alhambra will be accompanied by a show of fireworks.
In the center, citizens and tourists can enjoy a 19-meter 19 tree and 30 bright ball-shaped decorations with colors ranging from cold white to warm in the Bib-Rambla square.
The goal of the government is to recreate a light that “enhances the beauty of the city, but at the same time that it is environmentally friendly”. Despite the increase of LEDs in lighting this year 2017, the costs and consumption are the same compared to the past 2016 thanks to LED technology.
The Christmas lighting will remain on until January 7 from 18.30 to 24.00 and will last until 04.00 on Friday, Saturday and during the vigilance of holidays until 06.00 Christmas and New Year’s Eve
