The Premier Indie Music Festival in Granada
Granada, a city renowned for its rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant cultural scene, will once again host one of Spain’s most anticipated music events: Granada Sound 2025. Scheduled for September 12 and 13, this festival promises two days filled with an eclectic mix of national and international indie, pop, and rock music, attracting both seasoned fans and newcomers to the city.
A Festival with a Growing Legacy
Since its inception in 2012, Granada Sound has established itself as a landmark event in the alternative music scene. The first edition, originally named Alhambra Sound, took place at the Plaza de Toros and featured ten national bands performing over ten hours. The festival was designed to celebrate the end of the university exam period, offering students a musical escape in the heart of Granada.
Over the years, the festival has evolved considerably:
- Expansion of stages and venues: From the initial Plaza de Toros, the festival moved to the Armilla fairgrounds to accommodate growing audiences and additional stages.
- Two-day format: By 2016, Granada Sound extended its duration to two days, relocating to its current home at Cortijo del Conde, one of Granada’s most iconic outdoor venues.
- Economic and cultural impact: In 2017, the festival generated approximately €9 million over a single weekend, highlighting its significance in Andalusia’s cultural and economic landscape.
- Adaptation during COVID-19: The 2020 edition was postponed, but organizers streamed performances online, ensuring continuity and engagement with fans despite the pandemic.
