The Night of the Perseids is approaching! The night with the most shooting stars will be the one from 12th / 13th August.
The Perseids are an astronomical event that occurs every year between the end of July and the end of August and are the most popular meteor shower of the year.
During the next few days you’ll be able to see more shooting stars than usual, due to the fact that the Earth is currently passing through the path of comet Swift-Tuttle.
When the little debris that the comet leaves behind hit the atmosphere of the Earth they burn up and create the impression of a shooting star.
The peak of this meteor shower will be during the night of the 12th to the 13th August when the Earth passes through the densest, dustiest area of the meteoroid cloud.
This is the best night to observe this astronomic event! But you can still catch some action from the famed meteor shower before or after that point.
If you want to do something special during this weekend of shooting stars, then check out the program of activities of the Skiing station in Sierra Nevada! They offer for example a visit of the astrophysical observatory, an ascent of Mountain Mulhacén, a crossing of Peak Veleta and much more.
Or you can just go into the Sierra Nevada to observe the meteor shower. There, far away from light pollution you will see much more than in the city!
Wherever you go to see the Perseids, it will be an unforgettable experience. So, don’t miss it!!!
