Between April the 17th and the 22nd, Granada celebrates the International Day of Monuments and Sites 2018 with a program of free cultural activities that you cannot miss!
This global event has been held since 1983, when the General Assembly of UNESCO approved the proposal made a year earlier by the International Committee of Monuments and Sites, ICOMOS, and each year a theme is chosen on which all the activities are developed. For instance, for this year, the event has been organized under the theme “Heritage for our generations”.
On this occasion it is possible to visit monuments and places of Granada’s cultural heritage and participate in different activities, such as concerts, exhibitions, guided visits or itineraries, photographic workshops for adults and young people as well, and much more. Although some of them need to be booked in advance, the majority of activities is free and is aimed at all audiences.
For example, on Wednesday the 18th of April you can visit the Alcazaba (part of the Alhambra site) for free, from 8:30am to 8pm, and, from April the 17th to 22nd there will be free visits at the Museum of the Alhambra (from 10am to 1:30pm with the Association of Volunteers of the Museum of the Alhambra) and at the Museum of Fine Arts (from 9am to 8pm from Wednesday to Saturday, and from 8:30am to 2:30pm on Sunday).
