To make the meatballs:
Mix the milk with the breadcrumbs to soften them. Put them in a container along with the beaten egg, salt, black pepper, Parmesan cheese and parsley. Incorporate the meat, garlic clove and chopped onion. Use your hands to knead all ingredients and form a uniform dough.
Take a small portion of dough and form a small ball with the palms of your hands. Keep making balls until the dough is finished.
Now you have two options, cook the meatballs in the oven for 20-25 minutes until they are cooked, or flour the meatballs and fry them in hot oil until golden brown.
To make the sauce.:
Saute onion and garlic in a frying pan with 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium high heat, until tender, about 5 to 7 minutes. Grind the tomatoes and add them to the pan, along with the bay leaf, salt and various herbs.
Add the meatballs to the sauce and let it cook over a low heat for 20 minutes, until the sauce has been reduced and thickened.
Remove the bay leaves and stems from any other aromatic herb. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top and serve.
