Today we show you how to prepare a delicious and easy snack. The main ingredient is plantain (green banana), excellent source of fiber and a great ally to our digestive system.
Patacones, also known as tostones, is a popular dish cooked in several countries in Latin America, especially in the Caribbean. You can eat them as a snack, accompanied by a sauce, also you can serve them as a side dish with the fish, seafood, chicken, rice etc.
- Green banana
- Salt to taste
Plantain skin is tougher than the banana one, so the best way to peel it off is: first cut the ends and make a longitudinal cut with the knife, then lift the skin and remove it with your fingers. Cut the plantains into thick slices, about 3 cm. Heat plenty of oil over medium heat and fry the plantain slices until they turn yellow. Remove from the pan and place them on absorbent paper, then crush them one by one using a kitchen table, the bottom of a bowl or a cup. Return plantains to hot oil and fry until they get golden and crispy. Remove from pan and add salt to taste.
