Granada’s Corpus Christi Fair 2026

Here comes the most anticipated week for the people of Granada: the Corpus Fair of Granada 2026!

Every year, the Granadan spring culminates in one of the most anticipated festivals in Andalusia: the Corpus Christi Fair. And every year, iNMSOL encourages its students to visit it and take part in it!

Official Fair Sign

This event represents the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture. You can practice the language in authentic contexts, and experience a centuries-old tradition that brings the entire city to life.

What is the Granada Fair?

It celebrates the religious tradition of Corpus Christi but has evolved over time into a week of collective joy, music, gastronomy, and Andalusian folklore.

Granada Corpus Christi

What makes the Granada fair unique is its accessibility. Unlike the Feria de Abril in Seville, where the casetas are often private and by invitation only, in Granada entry to all casetas is free and open to everyone. The caseteros and caseteras (the caseta owners) enjoy inviting everyone to soak up the atmosphere. In the granadian casetas you will taste the typical dishes: they compete each year in a friendly gastronomic contest!

When the Corpus Christi Fair of Granada 2026 Takes Place

The Granada fair lasts a full week, beginning at midnight on the Saturday before Corpus Christi Thursday: in 2026, the official dates are from Saturday, May 30 to Saturday, June 6.

The inaugural “alumbrao” ceremony (the lighting of the lights) will take place on Saturday, June 14 at 23:00 at the main gateway of the fairground. It is characterized by the traditional lighting at midnight, accompanied by musical performances and fireworks.

Where it is Held: The Almanjáyar Fairground

The fair takes place in the Almanjáyar neighbourhood, in the Norte district of Granada, in a large fairground specially set up at Calle Casería del Cerro, 25. The choice of a peripheral area relative to the historic centre is due to the need to accommodate:

Lights at Granada's Fair

  • 67 casetas in total (54 traditional, 11 institutional, and 2 commercial)
  • A large area with rides and attractions
  • Squares, performance spaces, and gastronomic areas

The Granada fairground features three main areas. The caseta zone hosts 67 traditional, institutional, and commercial casetas. The attraction zone offers rides and entertainment for all ages. The access streets shine with thousands of coloured light bulbs and lanterns.
A major novelty awaits visitors in 2026. The main gateway will once again reproduce an emblematic city monument. This year, the historic Puerta de las Granadas inspires its design. A second gateway will also be inaugurated on Calle Joaquina Eguaras, 13 metres high and 11 metres wide.

Why the Granada Fair is an Unmissable Event

The Corpus Christi Fair is one of Granada’s biggest events. It’s a popular celebration that still retains its Andalusian and traditional essence. And it’s a wonderful way to get to know the culture of our city!

From iNMSOL we encourage you to visit it, to stroll around it and sample the food and drink, and to chat with the locals and visitors. And why not, to get up and dance a few sevillanas!
