Last week we had the pleasure to host a group of 36 students of the High School “Giuseppe Berto” from Mogliano Veneto (Italy), accompanied by 3 teachers.
They stayed here in Granada for a week, so they could enjoy the town and the Spanish life-style.
They were hosted by Spanish families, chosen carefully by us, a maximum of 15 minutes walking far from our school. We think, as Institute, that for a student it is really important to live with Spanish families, as it is a great way to open him to new cultures and to a new language; for this reason, we always push them to take advantage of this great opportunity, and for sure these students got it!
During the mornings they used to attend Spanish lessons, which are the more interactive possible, with only native-speaker teachers, while during the afternoons we organized for them a lot of different activities, so students and teachers could enjoy the most outstanding monuments of the town and have a great time here in Granada.
The first day, together with our teacher Mª Ángeles, they visited Albayzin and Sacromonte, which are, as you can see, not too far from the city center; these are two of the most breathtaking districts Granada boasts, where the Arabic population used to live centuries ago.
Next days they had a chilling walk in the city center in the Realejo, visiting the Cathedral and the Alcaicería, the old Arabic market.
Furthermore, they went to a music “taller”, where they could learn and appreciate the real Spanish music and above all the Flamenco, an old dance but always new, born in Andalusia.
And finally, the last day they went to visit the Alhambra, the real pearl of this city. It is a majestic castle set in the hill of Granada, that was once the shelter of the Arabs.
We really hope they have had a great time with us in Granada, and we definitely hope to see them again!
